Abstract

In the face of the intricate contemporary global scenario, characterized by the Anthropocene era, increasingly complex responses are required, as well as transdisciplinary and multi-level imbrications and analyses. In this context, the energy sector plays a central role, given its position in the operationalization of production systems, the emission of pollutants, and the use of increasingly scarce natural resources. Thus, in the search for a sustainable future, local visions and solutions are often overlooked, while the hegemonic forces of the market and the permanence of highly hierarchical political structures dominate the guidelines and agendas listed by both global organizations and governments and their multiple levels of action. Using dialectics, this paper seeks to discuss the concept of Energy Communities as a socio-technical structure aimed at the sustainable development of electrical systems in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. In this task, the notion of Good Living could be the amalgam that unites socio-technical solutions, global challenges, and the multiple local Latin American perspectives.
