Concepts and definitions of ESG – Environmental, social and corporate – governance in the evolutionary context of sustainability

This study identifies and conceptualizes the term that is on the rise in the corporate scenario, the term ESG, which means environment, social and governance in English. Increasingly, investors and analysts are paying attention to the way companies deal with social issues and corporate governance, maintaining the financial performance of being a single value generator for a company and consequently a driver of environmental investments. Specifically, this study seeks to understand the concepts attributed to social development over the years, and thus identify the concept and applicability of the term ESG in companies.
