Abstract

In recent years, China has become a major producer, seller and consumer of electric vehicles, surpassing established countries in the automotive sector. Given this scenario, the objective of the study is to provide an overview of China's position in the electric vehicle segment, in order to understand its trajectory based on the analysis of the country's development policies such as the "Made in China 2025” and the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plan, as well as specific industry electrification policies. Regarding the results found, it is clear that China is one of the main sellers and holders of battery-powered electric vehicles, supported by its important role in creating an environment for the development of electric vehicles, given its abundant consumer market as well as its market opening for the entry of important automobile manufacturers through joint ventures. In addition, the findings indicate that China has demonstrated ambitious goals to become the largest industrial power of electric vehicles, with national companies as a reference not only in the domestic market, but throughout the world.
