Abstract

Este artigo reflete sobre alguns aspectos analisados em Dissertação de Mestrado que examinou um programa de desenvolvimento regional adotado na Região Serrana de Santa Catarina. A expectativa deste estudo é contribuir para o entendimento dos fatores que se apresentam relevantes ao processo de construção do desenvolvimento sustentável de uma região. Toma-se como referencial teórico principalmente a abordagem do ecodesenvolvimento, de Ignacy Sachs. O estudo deste programa é relevante por ter sido instituído de forma experimental, servindo de base para outros programas de desenvolvimento regional estabelecidos no Brasil. Os resultados alcançados foram avaliados buscando-se compreender fatores políticos, gerenciais e metodológicos. Além da análise secundária, indicadores quantitativos e qualitativos foram escolhidos e adaptados; foram realizadas entrevistas com técnicos, coordenadores e participantes no processo de construção e operacionalização do programa. A conclusão apresenta algumas lições que podem contribuir com programas semelhantes de desenvolvimento.
