Estrutura Familiar e Escolha da Localização de Residência nas Cidades: Uma Análise Empírica para o Caso da Região Metropolitana de São Paulo

A partir das implicações sobre o dilema entre acessibilidade de consumo de espaço, os modelos de Economia Urbana estabelecem uma clara relação entre localização da residência e a estrutura familiar, com famílias com menos dependentes situando-se mais próximo às áreas de emprego das cidades. Este trabalho utiliza os microdados do Censo 2010 para explorar a possível presença desta relação para o caso da Região Metropolitana de São Paulo, a maior do país e uma das que apresenta poucas amenidades naturais. Os resultados, ainda que não possam ser vistos como comprobatórios da relação, são fortemente consistentes com um modelo tradicional de Economia Urbana ampliado para a consideração das implicações das diferentes estruturas familiares.
