Abstract: The purpose of this article is to discuss the human right to adequate food, its public policies and challenges. The approach is made in light of the human right to adequate food for people living on the streets, which must also be seen and respected as an unavailable right. The method applied in this article is that of document analysis, based on both a conceptual reflection and an empirical observation of a given event, that is, the failed proposal to create a government program called "Food for All", more known as the case of “farinata”, which, in October 2017, was an attempt to launch by the City of São Paulo. The conclusion of this work is in the sense that adequate, healthy, natural and nutritious food, a fundamental right of every human being, as it is inherent to the dignity of the human person and indispensable to the realization of other rights already enshrined, goes far beyond mere biological “food”, and there is also a relationship with social, cultural and environmental issues.
