The purpose of this paper is to analyze the export performance of the Brazilian automotive sector in the period from 2000 to 2017. So, it was considered the Symmetric Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (IVCRS) and Regional Orientation (RO); beside the gravitational model to analyze the impact of some variables (GDP, Commercial Agreement and Distance) on the automotive commercial flow. The results of the RCA showed that Brazil presented comparative disadvantages in relation to exports of automotive products for all the years covered in this research, except for 2005. On the other hand, the results of RO, indicated that exports in this sector are mainly directed to Argentina, and to a lesser extent to Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The results found through the Gravitational Model indicated that the GDP of the exporting and importing country had a positive impact, the distance a negative impact, and that the bilateral trade presence agreements increases the commercial flow of Brazilian automotive products between countries by 11.64%.
