Construção Civil e a Degradação Ambiental

A indústria da construção civil ocupa posição de destaque na economia do Brasil, porém apresenta-se como grande geradora de impactos ambientais que resultam na formação de áreas degradadas. Estas áreas acabam causando situações de risco com algumas consequências relevantes, como o aumento da vulnerabilidade dos lençóis freáticos e rios ou córregos próximos, danos a edificações e ruas ou estradas vizinhas, perda da qualidade do ar por meio de ruídos ou poluição, insalubridades decorrentes da deposição de resíduos e danos à população das proximidades. No Brasil, as áreas degradadas provocadas pela construção civil ocorrem em três momentos distintos: na extração e fabricação de materiais de construção, na execução das obras e na disposição dos resíduos por ela gerados. Sendo assim, é inevitável o desenvolvimento de atividades da construção civil mais adequadas aos princípios da construção sustentável, que não causem tantas ações degradantes, adotando formas de exploração de matéria-prima mais conscientes e alternativas, utilizando materiais e processos construtivos que objetivem a harmonia entre o homem e o meio e dando uma destinação apropriada aos resíduos.
