The objective of this study was to identify the perception of residents in the city of São Bento do Sul (SC) on the development possibilities of that locality, based on the estimates of the Input-Output Matrix of the region obtained in the research by Brene et al. (2011), conducted in 2010. Regarding the methodology, this research is characterized as quantitative/qualitative by the methods and techniques employed (Delphi method, descriptive and multivariate statistics, as well as factorial analysis). The main results point to the residents' perception that the creation of Local Productive Arrangements (APLs) could represent possibilities for improvement, as identified in the quantitative projections of Brene et al. (2011). The potential tourism potential of the city was not perceived by the interviewees as relevant for the other productive sectors of the mentioned city. It was observed that, although the respondents identified benefits brought about by the modernization of some companies, their sectors would not be contemplated by allocation of resources. However, other attributes perceived by the interviewees corroborate with the estimates made in the previous study.
