Abstract

A mental model is a dynamic representation, a simulation of the world, which establishes the way in which the individual understands, abstracts, stores, and accesses information. Mental models store information to turn it into knowledge. In this sense, studies indicate a positive relationship between mental models and organizational performance. This research aims to discuss the dimensions of mental models and organizational performance through a theoretical essay. Based on the researched documents and literature of the area, we identified some of the dimensions of the mental models of the entrepreneurs that influence positively in the performance of their organizations: their knowledge, their creativity and their relationship. Based on the results achieved, this research proposed a model with three research propositions considering the dimensions of the mental models of the entrepreneurs. This study contributes to a better understanding and identification of the dimensions of the mental models of the entrepreneurs that are linked to the performance of their organization.
