Abstract

Acidade se apresenta como um centro de magnetismo que atrai indivíduos de diferentesníveis sociais e econômicos. A almejada cidade sustentável converte-se em meio dedisputas socioeconômicas e espaciais, no paradoxal desenvolvimento econômico,que vêm promovendo o inchaço dos centros urbanos e a exclusão de grupos sociaiscada dia mais numerosos. Um olhar interdisciplinar e crítico sobre o direito àcidade revela processos crescentes de desrespeito aos direitos humanos, pelasonegação do acesso ao meio ambiente ecologicamente equilibrado no espaçourbano - requisito essencial para a qualidade de vida e a cidadania. Oenfrentamento da crise ambiental requer maiores investimentos e processos deplanejamento e gestão de forma holística e participativa, garantindo acesso aosbens fundamentais e econômicos, ambientais e sociais.
