Sociological canon, Coloniality, Social stratificationAbstract
The paper suggests a decolonial reading of the sociological canon with the aim of strengthening the analytical and, at the same time, emancipatory mission of sociology as a reflexive and critical science of “modernity”. To this end, the concept of social stratification is explored in order to bring into focus its ideological elements as Eurocentric, elements that limit – within a global social science perspective – its heuristic capabilities.
