The social transformations driven by digital technologies challenge democracy, human rights, and the exercise of citizenship, insofar as the domination already present in society is now reinforced by digital technologies. To address this context, the present work focuses on the technological challenges to law, democracy, and citizenship. Thus, it arises from the problem that asks: how do digital technologies and structures of symbolic domination challenge democracy and law, and demand a form of citizenship oriented toward emancipation? To build an answer, the objective is: to analyze the impacts of digital technologies and structures of symbolic domination on democracy and rights, investigating emancipation as a fundamental aspect of a citizenship directed at strengthening the Democratic Rule of Law and the values of the Citizen Constitution. The method employed is the hypothetical-deductive, within a qualitative, exploratory research approach, using bibliographic research techniques. The observation of digital technologies associated with structures of domination, based on Bourdieu’s categories, resulted in a certain conception of Emancipated Citizenship, as a fundamental condition to confront structures of domination, in order to foster the realization of Human Rights and the protection of Democracy.
