Abstract

Neste artigo discutimos três pontos centrais: a mulher, a enfermagem, e o cuidar na perspectiva de gênero. Dialogando com os autores percebemos que estes elementos possuem uma íntima relação, pois a enfermagem têm sido considerada uma profissão essencialmente feminina, a qual conta em sua
força de trabalho com um elevado contingente de mulheres. O cuidado por sua vez, ao longo da história, está fortemente ligado à mulher. Alguns autores apontam o cuidado como um elemento que faz parte da vida das mulheres. Por sua vez, o principal instrumento de trabalho da enfermagem repousa no
cuidado ao outro, exercido em sua maioria por mulheres. Buscando entender essas relações encontramos sustentação teórica nas questões de gênero, permitindo-nos abordar processos históricos, culturais e sociais que se fazem presente na prática da enfermagem, muitas vezes, sem que os  profissionais percebem que sofrem influência do gênero no cotidiano do seu saber/fazer, o que vem determinar e/ou condicionar o próprio cuidado exercido.

Mestre, docente titular do Departamento de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul.
