REPERCUSSÕES DO TRATAMENTO QUIMIOTERÁPICO PARA A PESSOA IDOSA

Objetivo: Analisar como o idoso com câncer expressa sua condição de realizar quimioterapia ambulatorial em umhospital geral do norte do Rio Grande do Sul. Metodologia: Estudo de abordagem qualitativa e descritiva, realizadacom oito pacientes idosos que estavam em tratamento há pelo menos três aplicações. Esses responderam a entrevistassemiestruturadas, cujas falas foram submetidas à análise de conteúdo. Resultados: O diagnóstico do câncer gerousofrimento e medo da morte, sendo amenizado com o andamento das sessões de quimioterapia, que desencadearamsentimentos de fé e esperança. A família foi percebida como fonte de apoio e cuidado e a equipe de enfermagemprestou atenção e cuidado humanizado. Conclusão: O idoso após ter passado por uma trajetória de intervenções,sente-se confiante na resposta positiva de seu tratamento, dando a entender que todos merecem investimentos quepossibilitem, mesmo diante do temido “câncer”, buscar uma vida com dignidade humana.Downloads
