Abstract

La Colitis Seudomembranosa (CSM) es una enfermedad causada por las toxinas del Clostridium difficile, que, tiene como principal factor de riesgo para su colonización el uso de antibioticoterapias prolongadas. El objetivo del siguiente trabajo es analizar un caso de CSM diagnosticado en un Hospital Regional de Santa Maria - Rio Grande do Sul - Brasil - en 2014 y realizar una revisión de la literatura sobre el tema en cuestión. Durante el período de febrero y diciembre de 2014 fue realizada la recolección de datos de la paciente con sus respectivas historias clínicas. Al final se realizó la búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de dados Scielo, Pubmed y MedLine. La CSM es una enfermedad que se presenta básicamente por fiebre, dolor abdominal y diarrea, que si no tratada precozmente puede ser mortal. Se pudo identificar que la paciente hizo uso de distintos antibióticos durante la evolución de su enfermedad inicial, con eso aumentando el riesgo de padecer de la CSM. Se notó que los equipos de salud necesitan de capacitación a cerca del uso de los antibióticos y de la CSM. Además se realiza hincapié en las nuevas terapéuticas disponibles que todavía, son utilizadas por muy pocos profesionales.
