ASOCIACIÓN ENTRE EL SEXO Y EL ESTADO NUTRICIONAL DE LOS NIÑOS EN EDAD ESCOLAR CON ACEPTACIÓN DE ALIMENTOS

Resumen

El objetivo de la investigación fue evaluar la asociación del sexo y el estado nutricional de los escolares con la aceptación de alimentos. Participaron 626 estudiantes, con edades entre 7 y 10 años, de Guarapuava, PR. La valoración nutricional se realizó con base en el Índice de Masa Corporal para edad y sexo. Si bien la mayoría de los niños presenta un estado nutricional normal (58,31%), un elevado número de estudiantes presenta peso por encima del ideal (40,73%). Las niñas se asociaron más con los grupos de cereales, frutas, verduras y lácteos. Los niños, en cambio, están más asociados con alimentos pertenecientes a los grupos de carne y huevos y aceites y grasas, de manera similar a lo observado para los niños eutróficos. Los niños con sobrepeso se asociaron menos con estos grupos de alimentos. Se concluye que el sexo y el estado nutricional de los niños en edad escolar están asociados con la aceptación de alimentos.
