“Sustainable Beef”: práticas para a sustentabilidade na cadeia da carne bovina gaúcha

É cada vez mais notória a necessidade de discussões sobre práticas para a sustentabilidade em diferentes setores econômicos e contexto empresariais. Com esta perspectiva, este artigo objetiva analisar como diferentes membros da cadeia de carne bovina do Rio Grande do Sul estão envolvidos com práticas responsáveis em busca de uma cadeia mais sustentável. Para tanto, uma pesquisa qualitativa foi conduzida com diferentes stakeholders durante a feira de negócios Expointer, no sentido de entender como ocorreu o processo de interação entre esses e outros atores, e como a sustentabilidade vem sendo introduzida na produção de carne bovina, no ano de 2012. Os resultados indicam que, dentro de suas atribuições, cada um dos elos tem buscado se adequar, mesmo que com motivação econômica, ao novo contexto que surge. Além disso, identificou-se que as ações estão sendo desenvolvidas de forma incipiente, no entanto, englobam tanto as dimensões ambiental e social, como a prática de bem-estar animal, para uma cadeia mais sustentável.
