POLÍCIA COMUNITÁRIA : um novo paradigma de polícia ostensiva

Abstract

Neste trabalho pretende-se demonstrar que a segurança pública tem-se tornado alvo de grandes debates e discussões, decorrentes do aumento da violência e criminalidade que as pessoas têm sofrido. Para contrapor, o Estado, por intermédio de suas polícias, em especial a polícia militar, tem procurado buscar alternativas às demandas que se apresentam rotineiramente. Verifica-se que pelos meios tradicionais de policiamento ostensivo não tem sido mais possível prestar serviços de forma satisfatória e a polícia militar tem desenvolvido em vários lugares um novo modo de enfrentar esses problemas, tentando envolver as comunidades e prestando um serviço direcionado às mesmas. Mas, para isso ocorrer, muitos paradigmas devem ser quebrados em virtude da cultura que está instalada no Brasil. Com uma nova mentalidade de prestação de serviços na atividade de polícia ostensiva, surge a chamada polícia comunitária, a qual deve estar diretamente envolvida com o cidadão.
