El fondo de las Américas de Chile se consolida como mecanismoefectivo eficiente y transparente del desarrollo sustentable con capacidad de fortalecer la sociedad civil, las organizaciones sociales, la democracia, potencializar las capacidades ciudadanas de control, responsabilidad ambiental y apoyar el desarrollo local. El objetivo es implementar programas y políticas de desarrollo sustentable que influencie actores públicos y privados en la perspectiva de la construcción del sistema integrado de aprendizajes. Desarrollo sustentable y democracia participativa son los conceptos orientadores.
