CARACTERIZAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES SOCIOCULTURAIS, ECONÔMICAS E DE SAÚDE DO IDOSO EM MUNICÍPIO DE CULTURA PREDOMINANTEMENTE GERMÂNICA NO RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Abstract

Introdução: A investigação do perfil sociocultural, econômico
e de saúde do idoso, em âmbito municipal, é de importância
indiscutível no subsídio de políticas públicas que busquem longevidade com qualidade. Objetivo: O estudo analisou a multidimensionalidade da vida do idoso de Picada Café, município de cultura predominantemente germânica, identificando as condições socioculturais, econômicas e de saúde e sua associação com a qualidade de vida. Metodologia: Foi avaliada, mediante entrevista estruturada, a totalidade dos idosos residentes no município, com sessenta anos ou mais completos até 30/06/2005, sendo constituída por 601 sujeitos. Resultados: O idoso estudado apresenta como características predominantes, a semelhança do contingente de homens e mulheres, idade entre 60-69 anos, casado, procedência rural e baixa escolaridade. Mora em casa própria, servida de energia elétrica e iluminação pública, com coleta de lixo no domicílio.
Apresenta baixa renda, proveniente de aposentadoria e  pensão. De família numerosa e religião católica, considera a saúde e a família como maiores valores para sua vida. Boas condições de saneamento básico e infra-estrutura, baixa densidade ocupacional das residências, convívio familiar, percepção subjetiva positiva da saúde e autonomia nas atividades de vida diária são indicativos de sua qualidade de vida.
