Abstract

Este estudo foi executado no bairro Glória, município de Ijuí-
RS, no período de maio a dezembro de 2006, tendo como população-alvo os indivíduos portadores de diabetes mellitus e hipertensão arterial, usuários da Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS). A população de abrangência desse bairro é de 3.991 habitantes, divididos em 6 microáreas, havendo cadastrados 94 indivíduos diabéticos e 411 hipertensos. O objetivo do estudo foi realizar um diagnóstico preliminar da população de hipertensos e diabéticos do bairro Glória da cidade de Ijuí/RS. O instrumento de pesquisa foi estruturado com sete subitens, constando dados sobre identificação, informações sobre o tratamento, hábitos, exame físico e psicossocial. A entrevista foi realizada na residência dos indivíduos por acadêmicos dos cursos da saúde da Unijuí e, após, procedeu-se à tabulação dos dados e criação do banco no software Epi Info 6.02. Foram
entrevistados 504 indivíduos, dos quais analisaram-se 170 questionários. Verificou-se que a população necessita de maior informação sobre sua condição de saúde. Conclui-se que só a Unidade Básica de Saúde não consegue viabilizar a oferta integral de ações da saúde às necessidades da população, com a participação de outros órgãos ou instituições sendo fundamental nesse processo.
