Sarcopenia y complicaciones postoperatorias en pacientes sometidos a gastrectomía por cáncer gástrico: revisión integrativa

Resumen

El objetivo es investigar la influencia de la sarcopenia en las complicaciones posoperatorias en pacientes sometidos a gastrectomía por cáncer gástrico. Se utilizaron las bases de datos PubMed, Cochrane, Science Direct y Scielo, con los descriptores Sarcopenia y Stomach Neoplasms. La revisión integradora se estructuró con quince artículos, entre 2015 y 2019. El análisis de datos se realizó de forma descriptiva. Doce estudios identificaron la sarcopenia como un factor de riesgo de complicaciones posoperatorias en pacientes sometidos a gastrectomía por cáncer gástrico. La reducción de la masa del músculo esquelético se asocia con una menor ingesta o biodisponibilidad de nutrientes y cambios metabólicos, como una mayor producción de moléculas proinflamatorias que dan como resultado un sistema inmunológico debilitado y una mala cicatrización posquirúrgica. Se concluyó que la presencia de sarcopenia en pacientes sometidos a gastrectomía por cáncer gástrico se relaciona con una mayor ocurrencia de complicaciones en el postoperatorio.
