This article attempts to identify the necessary relationships between the development of social and environmental responsibility and the practices of the Public Administration. The latter's role is evidenced by acting as the guarantor of the right to the environmentally balanced environment, as provided for in Article 225 of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, as well as subject of duties in environmental preservation. In this sense, it will be sought to understand the main axes of environmental responsibility in public administration, anchored in the rational use of natural resources and public goods, adequate waste management, quality of life in the work environment and awareness of your servers, as well as on the implementation of public procurement policies and sustainable constructions. Finally, the paper aims to investigate the environmental agenda adopted by public agencies, especially from international declarations, especially regarding the role of the State as an influencer of corporate social responsibility through their actions.
